Hakonechloa macra ‘Aureola’

Japanese forest grass

This grass grows best in consistently moist but well-drained soil in part shade.   It will grow in close to full shade.  The foliage will burn in full sun.  The leaf variation varies according to light exposures, better striping and more gold color in part shade.  In autumn, the foliage gets a pink tint.  Perennial plant of the year in 2009.  A graceful colorful plant for part shade borders.
