Mount Airy Fothergilla
Fothergilla major ‘Mount Airy’
Selected by Michael Dirr from the Mt. Airy Arboretum in Cincinnati, Ohio. Noted for its consistent fall color ranging from yellow through orange and red. The Mount Airy Fothergill blooms heavily with white, fragrant flower spikes in April to early May before leaves appear. Blooms last up to 3-4 weeks. Summer foliage is dark blue-green above, whitish beneath, and has that great fall color.
